System of a down neues album

It’s been 11 years since System of a Down released a new album, but it appears the wait may soon be over. In addition to a handful of 2017 tour dates, the hard rock outfit has now confirmed that they’ve been diligently working on all-new material, their first since 2005’s double LP, Mezmerize/Hypnotize.

According to drummer John Dolmayan (via Exclaim), SOAD have been plugging away in the studio for the past six months and have thus far come up with 15 tracks deemed “album-worthy.” Speaking to Kerrang, he hinted that the earliest the new LP could drop would be next year. “There’s a tremendous amount of pressure on us, though, because it’s been 11 years – at least 12 by the time it comes out.”

In terms of what fans can expect from the forthcoming album, Dolmayan went on to note that “our playing ability is better than it ever has been” as well as cautioned listeners not to expect a rehashing of old material. “We’re not trying to make Toxicity Part II, just because it was by far our biggest album.”

He added, “This needs to be something for a new generation of SOAD fans, so everyone can see we’re not resting on our laurels. I’m not gonna put my name on an album I’m not 100 percent proud of.”

Below, revisit SOAD’s performance at 2015’s Rock in Rio, followed by their upcoming tour dates.

Alright this audio biography cd is okay. The main speaker is a British woman who gives details and facts about the band but this cd wasn't made very good. When the lady talks about what SOAD's music sounds like you hear some kind of drum beat background that doesn't even sound like them and it totally throws you off. The background beat is boring and after 60 minutes you can take it anymore. Another thing that throws you off is that she says like 50 other band names from Limp Bizkit to Backstreet Boys to Fear Factory and it takes your mind off SOAD and makes you think about the band she mentioned. There are short interviews at the beginning of each chapter by someone in the band but you can't even understand them because theres people talking in the background and its all muffled. There were some cool facts about the band though. One I found interesting was that the guitarist Daron was in a side project with my favorite drummer Joey Jordinson of Slipknot and there band was called The Ambulance. There are plenty of facts for any SOAD fan to know but the audio features are bad. If your new to SOAD get the unauthorized DVD instead of this. At least you get video and pictures on the DVD. If your a SOAD fan already buy this for your collection.

I bought this CD with a gift certificate I had. If you have to purchase it with your own funds, I suggest you don't. This biography is unauthorized, so the band doesn't have anything to do with it. All it is, basically, is some British woman talking about the band for an hour. There are occasional sound bites of things that the actual band members said, but these don't last long. I've listened to this CD once. If you really want to know more about the band, go ahead and get it. But it is kind of boring if that's not what you're looking for. There is no music of there's on here or anything. If you want some good stuff, buy System's actual CDs, now those are great. But this is not a System of a Down CD, they had nothing to do with its production.

This company just gets some woman to sit there and read about the band out loud while some horribly innapropriate music plays in the background. Imagine if she were some english news reporter, reading a biography about the band from off of the teleprompter as if it were the night's headline. While this is happening, someone she was having a telephone conversation with on speakerphone had placed her on hold, and you can hear the annoying 'please wait while your call is taken in the order it was received' music playing in the background as she reads. That's exactly what these cd's sound like.

I was shopping for SOAD cd's, saw this, and had to laugh, because I remember when this same company did the same type of biography for cradle of filth. At the time I had just discovered them, it was right after the release of 'cruelty and the beast' in '98, so, not being very familiar with the bands' discography at the time, I had thought it was just some sort of import cd. Boy did I feel cheated back then, and I don't want anyone else having to go through the irritating experience that is a 'maximum' cd.

Make sure you take a look at other people's items before purchasing this one. Is it worth listening to? Perhaps. Is it worth paying more than, say, $5 for it? Absolutely not.

Will System of a Down ever make a new album?

In an interview with Guitar World magazine, Malakian was asked about the chances of more new music from SYSTEM OF A DOWN in the near future.
