When preparing the patient's environment for safe oxygen therapy?Place the oxygen delivery system in a clutter-free environment that is well ventilated, smoke free, away from combustible materials, and at least 6 feet from an open flame. Do not place an oxygen concentrator system in a closet. Demonstrate the steps for preparing and completing oxygen therapy.
Can you use nail polish remover while on oxygen?Make sure you haven't come into contact with any flammable substances, such as hairspray, alcohol (hand sanitizer usually contains alcohol), nail polish remover, etc. and avoid wearing lose fitting clothes, which are more likely to touch a burner and catch fire.
Why would a nurse not allow a patient on oxygen therapy to use wool blankets?Woolen and synthetic materials can generate static electricity. Because oxygen is a flammable gas, the client should wear cotton clothing and use cotton bedding and blankets.
