Template:WikiDoc Sources What is the patient position for a breast examination?Lying Down. The breasts are best examined while lying down because it spreads the breast tissue evenly over the chest. Lie flat on your back, with one arm over your head and a pillow or folded towel under the shoulder. This position flattens the breast and makes it easier to check.
What is the best position of the client in palpating the breast?Although palpation is best done with the patient supine, there is no contra indication at this stage of the examina tion to perform palpation while the pa tient is sitting before you. The arms should be elevated during palpation to distribute the breast tissue over the chest wall.
What position is used for physical examination?Horizontal Recumbent Position. Used for most physical examinations. Patient is on his back with legs extended. Arms may be above the head, alongside the body or folded on the chest.
Why should a patient be in the prone position hc21?Limited range of motion in their necks can make it uncomfortable.
